Council approves automatic bar screen to reduce sewer backups
Council unanimously approved design and administration of an automatic bar screen for the city's wastewater treatment plant to continuously remove solids and reduce the risk of plant backups as the city grows.

City Engineer Eddy Daniel told the council Aug. 13 that the wastewater treatment plant’s existing manual bar screen requires frequent raking and risks backups as the city grows. He recommended installing an automatic bar screen that continuously rakes solids to prevent blockages.
