Council authorizes staff to draft response on developer request for 25,000 gpd additional water capacity

City Attorney David Olson told the council the city received a letter from an engineer representing a developer asking whether the city has capacity and willingness to provide additional water service for a proposed plant near Highway 6 and Savannah Parkway. "The letter itself requires an additional $25,000 gallons per day of capacity," Olson said, and he asked for authorization for staff to draft a response reflecting the city’s capacity position.

Council approved a motion authorizing staff to prepare the response letter and to proceed with the administrative steps needed to reply; the motion carried with recorded votes. Olson framed the request as preliminary and asked staff to prepare the factual response rather than committing to any capacity transfer at the meeting.
