The Manistee County Land Bank Authority heard that the demolition and asbestos-abatement project for 267 Third Street was placed on an accelerated schedule after Blight Elimination Program funds were reallocated following the cancellation of another project in Bear Lake. Consultant Susan Wenzlick said the availability of those funds necessitated a compressed timeline to preserve eligibility for state reimbursement.
A representative of Pitsch Companies confirmed the firm could meet the schedule and complete the work by Sept. 1, 2026. Authority members and staff discussed the importance of timely documentation and noted the project timeline was updated after the contract approval to align with grant reporting requirements.
Staff will proceed to finalize contracts and to track required deliverables so the Authority can file for reimbursement within the State Land Bank Authority deadlines.
