Board hears proposal for Acworth–Kennesaw microtransit pilot; equity analysis shows minor disparate impact

DOT presented the Acworth–Kennesaw CobbLinc microtransit pilot as a two-year program (with an optional third year) funded by the same transit trust fund and local match used for South Cobb. Drew Ressler said the proposed zone would cover roughly six additional square miles at the northern terminus of the current CobbLinc microtransit area and would provide last-mile and curb-to-curb trips around Kennesaw State University and nearby job and retail centers.

Ressler said the Title VI equity analysis identified a "minor disparate impact" in the new zone compared with countywide minority percentages and described mitigation strategies focused on targeted outreach so the service is well-known in impacted communities. Greg Crisp of Kennesaw urged the board to approve the pilot, emphasizing the service would help seniors and those who do not drive. Commissioners said details including operating hours, service area boundaries, and fare structure remain to be finalized, and DOT said authorization and contracts will come forward on a future agenda.
