Fire chief reports 351 emergency calls, multiple mutual-aid responses

Chief Albert, the fire chief, told the Public Safety Commission on Dec. 16 that the department responded to 351 emergency calls during the month and provided mutual-aid assistance to neighboring communities.
"We had a fire on a Sunday morning on Bernie And Ward Drive," Chief Albert said, and he also reported responses in Cromwell and Portland. He summarized broader citywide activity by saying, "Citywide EMS, we did 870 EMS calls," and supplied monthly telecom statistics for dispatch: roughly 6,456 incidents, 9‑1‑1 calls and about 7,500 administrative calls.
The chair convened the meeting at 6:36 p.m. and recorded no public comments on agenda items. The chief framed the mutual-aid activity as notable for the month and said he will evaluate whether existing agreements remain cost-effective given recent use.
