The presenter also noted special-operations activities (water/ice rescues, structure fires and distressed-person calls), 240 handgun registrations processed, 41 warrants entered and 62 background checks. Commissioners asked whether handgun-registration numbers rise seasonally; the presenter suggested warmer weather and holiday buying patterns could be factors. "We've had a total of 280 calls for service," the presenter summarized during the report.
The board had no further action on the statistics and thanked the department for the update.
