Emmet County board dissolves County Compensation Board, will set elected-official salaries

On July 28 the Emmet County Board adopted Resolution 26-22 to abolish the County Compensation Board and assume responsibility for preparing an annual compensation schedule for elected county officers, effective immediately.
The Emmet County Board of Supervisors voted July 28 to adopt Resolution 26-22, which dissolves the Emmet County Compensation Board and transfers responsibility for developing and approving elected officials’ compensation to the Board of Supervisors.
The resolution states that the change is prompted by legislation enacted by the Iowa General Assembly permitting county boards of supervisors to dissolve compensation boards and assume salary-setting duties. The resolution directs the board to prepare an annual compensation schedule for elected county officers and takes effect immediately upon adoption. The board adopted the resolution on a motion by Jeff Quastad, seconded by Todd Glasnapp; roll-call vote was unanimous.
