Chair: Planning commission adopts bylaws, sets work plan for comprehensive plan

The Onancock Planning Commission voted to adopt revised bylaws at its May 5 meeting, approving the changes after members discussed term lengths, remote participation language and attendance thresholds. The Chair moved the package and a member seconded; the Chair declared, "We now have bylaws."

The commission addressed several implementation items during the bylaws discussion, including drawing lots to stagger initial term expirations and clarifying whether absences are counted as consecutive or cumulative over a year. Commissioners also discussed how remote participation should be treated in relation to quorum and whether the commission should ask the town council to confirm the staggered term approach. The commission agreed to finalize remaining details and forward the adopted bylaws for town-council action as required.
