The Brownfield ISD board voted to approve a Texas Education Agency (TEA) corrective action plan addressing miscoding of student-discipline placements in the district’s PEIMS reporting. Superintendent Chris told the board the errors originated in 2023 and that the district has already implemented training and validation procedures to correct past submissions.
"This data correction… we had some students miscoded, for their disciplinary placements," Superintendent Chris said, describing coding errors that reached the state snapshot process. He said the district has done additional training and will provide TEA with sign-in sheets and materials as required. Board members pressed for confirmation that the steps required by TEA were complete; administration said the corrective elements, including additional training and routine validation, have been implemented.
Board member Tim Swearingen moved to approve the TEA-agreed corrective action plan, which was seconded and approved by the board. The item was listed as a formal corrective action tied to state reporting protocols; the administration characterized the vote as an acknowledgement of the district's awareness and the remediation steps already in place.
