Peekskill reports no lead-and-copper violations after 2025 sampling

Dave Rambo reported the city completed required lead-and-copper sampling in August and told the council the results showed no violations. "In, August of this year, we completed our lead and copper sampling ... and we have no violations," he said, noting the department has replaced lead service on the municipal side where it had been found.
Rambo explained the EPA requires an inventory that distinguishes public-side versus private-side lead service lines and described the potholing process used to determine whether lead exists at curb stops. He said about 1,000 services remain classified as "unknowns" and that federal rules give the city five years to identify them; staff have sent the paperwork to the EPA and will continue replacements as required and as funding allows.
Council members pressed whether commercial connections were included; Rambo said most commercial services use larger-diameter piping that historically did not use lead and that crews focus on the smaller 0.75‑inch residential goosenecks when present.
