During the public-comment period, Scott Redelman and Tristan Fay raised concerns about the city's ALPR ("Flock") system and asked whether the system is being used to detect serious crimes such as human trafficking and when the contract would be renewed.
Scott Redelman said, "I think it's important when you hear back from that to understand what uses flock is used to catch, human trafficking." Tristan Fay asked whether the Flock contract had been included as a budget line item and whether the police chief might renew it without public input; he asked when the contract would be up for renewal.
Panel members and student member Alex said they would seek answers from BPD and include those items in follow-up outreach. Alex said he had already reached out to BPD staff and would include community questions about contract timing and procurement in future communications.
