Microsoft campus moves to grading phase; county expects multi-year schedule

Gavin Henderson told commissioners that the county has issued three grading permits for the Microsoft data center campus and two associated substations (one NV Energy-owned, one Microsoft-owned).
Henderson said the contractor recently met with the Silver Springs community to answer public questions and that the project will reroute an existing power line around the perimeter before beginning staged grading. “Estimate they estimated that the grading will take place over a 2 to 3 year time period,” Henderson said. He added that Microsoft plans to limit grading to areas they can water to control dust and will prioritize storm-drainage facilities early in the schedule.
