Assemblymember Kalra presented ACR 199 to honor India’s Independence Day, recounting the 1947 independence movement and highlighting the contributions of Indian Americans to California’s economy and civic life. "On 08/15/1947... India in a relatively short or in relatively short order ushered in an era of industrialization and self determination for its people," he said while urging colleagues to support the resolution.
