Pre-emption Road bridge finished; Ferguson-Corners progress could trigger archaeological study

Highway Superintendent Doug Rapalee told the committee the Pre-emption Road Bridge is complete and paperwork and payment requests are being finalized.
On Ferguson-Corners Road, Rapalee said consultants at B&L believe existing sheet piling should meet scour requirements but the State flagged that constructing a double-lane temporary bridge outside the 1995 project limits could trigger a Phase 1 archaeological study. Rapalee said the DOT confirmed the county can utilize 2029 block grant funding for the project if needed.
Rapalee also updated the committee on local drainage and culvert work in the Hamlet of Bellona, reporting a relining design originally specified a thickness no manufacturer could meet; Precision is coordinating with an engineer to stamp an alternative design that will meet strength and specification requirements. He said a Torrey Landfill proposal had not yet been received but was expected this week for review next month.
