Community Services outlines Problem Solving Court options, child‑services changes and AOT coordination

Community Services reported on Problem Solving Courts options for expanding mental-health services, noted court-system and child-services (CSPOA) changes from recent settlements, described outreach at the county fair including distribution of prevention kits, and said the county is contracting with Wayne County for a forensic psychiatrist to support Assisted Outpatient Treatment evaluations.

Lisa Principio, Director of Community Services, told the Human Services Committee the county can support Problem Solving Courts administered by the New York State Unified Court System and described two paths to expand services locally: broaden drug treatment for co‑occurring disorders or develop a separate mental‑health court. Principio said a hybrid option would likely be best for Yates County given provider availability and rural considerations.
