The full story
City staff presented proposed amendments to add rental housing registration and inspection requirements to the city's Code of Ordinances. Ross Altobelli, Director of Community Development, said the ordinance aims to improve tenant health and safety, hold absentee landlords accountable, and provide a direct channel for first responders. The fee schedule in the proposal sets an annual registration fee of $120 for single‑family and duplex units (per unit) and $250 for multifamily/townhouse properties with up to five units; for properties with six or more units the fee was proposed as $250 plus $10 per additional unit.
