The Morrison County Planning Commission on July 21 voted to recommend approval of an interim-use permit for a temporary meteorological tower on land owned by Keith and Monica Funt in Morrill Township. Joey Shannon and Sarah Goode presented the application for Swift Current Energy; staff submitted Sections 604.8 and 1227 of the land-use ordinance, aerial photos and a tower layout into the record.
Shannon told commissioners that the project would use an existing access and that setbacks are being met; he again stated the site footprint would be about 1.62 acres. Commissioners suggested a four-year time limit be applied, matching the earlier tower item. With no public comments received before the hearing, Commissioner Brent Lindgren moved to recommend approval with conditions; Commissioner Clint Kathrein seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The commission forwarded the application to the Morrison County Board of Commissioners for final action on July 28, 2026.
