Resident urges commission to explore cricket ground using existing fields

Jay Patel, a public commenter, urged the Parks and Recreation Commission to consider allowing local cricket clubs to use a dedicated ground in Buda, saying the facility could be created on a plain field with minimal city expense. "We only need to use a plain field, with the grass," Patel said as he described a circular playing surface and low-cost surfacing options such as loam, road base and fine gravel.
Patel suggested a site behind the City Park — the land around Garrison Memorial Park — as one possible location and said equipment is typically owned by individual players or clubs. The chair extended his three-minute public-comment time by one minute for Patel to finish. Staff indicated the subject will be added to a future agenda for discussion; Tony (staff) told the commission, "There's no need for motion. I'll just put it on the agenda."
