Board declines request to place harm-reduction vending machine at Community Center

West County Health Centers requested permission to install a 24/7 harm-reduction vending machine outside the Community Center stocked with Narcan, Covid tests, pregnancy tests, sharps-disposal kits and condoms; the board said it was not in favor and directed Marina McTaggart to notify the health center.

West County Health Centers emailed the District proposing installation of a free, 24/7 ‘‘harm reduction’’ vending machine at the Community Center that would dispense items such as naloxone (Narcan), COVID tests, pregnancy tests, sharps needle-disposal kits and condoms. According to the minutes, the board was not in favor of locating the machine on Park District property and asked Administrator Marina McTaggart to notify West County Health Centers of the decision.
