Presenter warns Lake George system was under‑sized by original engineering, seeks help on design criteria
Sep 24, 2025
A presenter told commissioners the local wastewater plant was designed on an annualized average rather than weighted seasonal peaks, citing an earlier consent order and historical summer highs the presenter said reached 60,000–80,000 gallons per day while the plant design used a 14,000 gpd average; the presenter asked the commission for engineering assistance to remedy capacity shortfalls.

A presenter who identified an engineer of record said historical design assumptions left the local wastewater treatment plant undersized for summer demand. The presenter said the original design used a plain annual average and did not apply weighted seasonal averages, producing a planning figure of about 14,000 gallons per day while summer peaks in earlier records showed "60 to 80,000 gallons a day," according to the presenter. He said the design approach dated to 2014 under an earlier consent order and that the mismatch has left the plant short of summer capacity.
