Council authorizes vacant‑building assessment to begin ordinance process

The council directed the city attorney and planner to perform a vacant‑building assessment and redevelopment study to begin legislative work on an ordinance requiring maintenance of vacant properties, after the city attorney raised the issue from a prior meeting.

City Attorney Steve Ramunni told the Moore Haven City Council on July 7 that he had discussed requiring better maintenance of vacant buildings and that the city planner recommended an assessment and redevelopment study as the first step toward an ordinance. Councilmember RaShonda Croskey moved to authorize Ramunni and the planner to complete the vacant building assessment study; Councilmember Alisha Beck seconded the motion and it carried.
