Douglas County approves multiple position changes, denies one sheriff position and eliminates several slots

As part of regular personnel business the Douglas County Board on Aug. 19 approved a series of position changes and classification actions to be effective Jan. 2, 2026.
Actions included approval to eliminate one Deputy Auditor‑Treasurer position (slot #3007), approval to add one Jail Finance position (slot #127) and submit a Position Allocation Questionnaire (PAQ) for pay grade, and denial of an additional Deputy Sheriff position (slot #126). The Board also approved elimination of a Housekeeper position (slot #4016) and a Building Maintenance II position (slot #4017). A motion to increase the Veterans Clerical position (slot #15093) from .80 FTE to 1.0 FTE was denied; the roll call shows Commissioner Kalina voting no on that item while the other commissioners voted yes on the other personnel motions.
The personnel actions were adopted by recorded vote and direct the county’s Human Resources and Finance departments to implement classification, payroll and budget adjustments in advance of the 2026 effective date where applicable.
