Commission backs two additional code officers and vehicles to expand nights/weekend coverage

Staff at the Aug. 11 workshop recommended expanding code‑compliance hours to include evenings and weekends. "If we're gonna hire 2 new officers to work on the nights and weekends, we need 2 new cars to Overlap," Waters said, explaining that overlapping shifts require two vehicles so officers can work simultaneous shifts in the evening. After extended discussion about whether schedule changes could substitute for new positions, the commission recorded consensus to add two officers and the vehicles and directed staff to return with operating cost detail and implementation steps for bargaining‑unit considerations.
