The Douglas County Board of Commissioners on Sept. 2 debated and then approved a reduced slate of opioid-response grants after an initial vote failed. Commissioner Tim Kalina and Commissioner Charlie Meyer supported a seven‑grant package in an initial motion that included Car Care at $110,000 and Lakes Area Pride at $4,000; that motion failed on a 2–3 vote (Yes: Kalina, Meyer; No: Rapp, Schmidt, Way).
