Splash pad opens to crowds; early vandalism reported, 360° camera installed

The village splash pad opened last Saturday and has been heavily used, board members said at the May 27 meeting. Staff reported a first incident of vandalism: someone punctured a moving feature, affecting its operation, and parts have been secured for repair.
To increase oversight of high-traffic areas, the village installed a 360-degree camera covering the memorial, splash pad and parking lot. "We did get a, a new camera... It is a 3 60 camera, so it now watches the memorial... splash pad, parking lot," a staff member said. The board said it will add signage and continue monitoring to discourage dangerous behavior near the feature.
The board also discussed signage and other steps to deter misuse and to expedite repairs to the damaged feature.
