Developer and council agree on screening plan for Lakeside; developer outlines well schedule and MDE review
James Cook responded to resident complaints about screening between Lakeside and Piney Hill Road, proposing tree placement and agreeing to consider shrubbery and native grasses; Cook also said Somerset Well and Well 4R work is scheduled in mid-September and that MDE review recommends blending Matawan and Piney Point aquifers to reduce fluoride, with approvals expected in December.

At the Sept. 3 meeting James Cook addressed a complaint about screening between the Lakeside development and the Piney Hill Road backyards. Cook said the trees proposed for buffering are slated to be planted when the first house is under construction and suggested moving them from the north to the south side of the swale to better serve Piney Hill residents. President Newnam urged that shrubbery and native grasses also be considered to provide quicker screening; Cook said he would work with Richard Allison of the Planning Commission on species selection. The council accepted the developer’s response and authorized Lakeside to move forward with the updated plan.
