Parks and Recreation urges budget support for staffing, accessibility and security upgrades

Parks & Rec told supervisors it logged nearly 9,943 user visits, operates four gyms and multiple fields, and is seeking funding for assistant director, accessibility upgrades and security cameras while flagging seasonal staffing shortages.

Parks & Recreation presenter Jay Rouse outlined facilities, programming and staffing pressures, saying, “that number with the 9,943, that's the people that walk through either walk through the door or participate” in county programs. He described four gyms (three at the high school and one at Parks & Rec), 12 fields of which seven belong to the county, substantial youth and adult league activity, senior programming and summer camps, and a reliance on part‑time seasonal staff: “We have 4, only 4 full time employees... and 11 active part time employees.”
