The Wilkes County Board of Health reviewed and voted to retain its local smoking (2008) and e-cigarette (2016) rules, which ban smoking and e-cigarette use inside county and municipal buildings and restrict use within 50 feet of health and social services facilities.

The Board reviewed its existing local rules on smoking and electronic-cigarette use and voted to retain them as written. The rules adopted in 2008 and 2016 prohibit smoking and e-cigarette aerosol in county and municipal buildings, in county-leased vehicles used for public transport and within 50 feet of buildings that house health or social services functions. The rules also require clear signage and authorize persons in charge to ask violators to stop or to leave the premises.
