Monroe council sets June 27 deadline for alder-at-large nomination packets
Council voted unanimously to set Friday, June 27 as the deadline for nomination papers to fill the current alder-at-large vacancy; the appointment will fill the seat through April 2026 and will be decided at the July 7 meeting if multiple candidates apply.

Administrator Randy explained statutory requirements for filling a council vacancy and recommended timeline options; he advised the council to allow for two Class 2 postings separated by at least a week before a July 7 vote. An alder moved to set the nomination deadline for June 27 and the motion was seconded. "I'll make a motion to, set the date for June 27 for the, have all the paperwork in for paper running for the Alder position," the alder said, and the council approved the motion by roll call.
