During the public-comment period, Susan Masto of Harberton urged the commission to ensure a public hearing before the Planning Commission makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors about changes to seaside Chesapeake protections. Masto stressed potential threats from proposed seabed mining to seagrass restoration, a nascent scallop fishery, aquaculture and shorebird nesting habitat, and said she looked forward to opportunities for public input.
