Officer Tammy Montagna of the East Fishkill Police Department explained the department's SafeMe program to attendees at Red Wing Park, describing how the program helps first responders quickly find information about a child with disabilities in an emergency. Montagna said the identifier—placed on a vehicle or near a home's front door—lets officers and firefighters know which agency to contact for details about a child's communication ability, allergies and other needs.
