Supervisors approve heat‑pump filter and authorize jail fire‑alarm replacement
Aug 11, 2026
Contractor told supervisors the jail's geothermal loop is overheated and returning about 101–102°F; the board approved a $4,800 loop filter and later authorized replacement of the jail’s aging fire‑alarm system (estimate ~ $27k–$31k plus electrician work).
The full story
Contractor Mr. Gatto (speaker S10) told the board the jail’s geothermal heat‑pump loop is operating at unusually high temperatures — "the jail loop is running at about a 102" — which has caused heat pumps to trip and lose cooling. He recommended installing a stainless‑steel loop filter to remove sediment and restore flow; the board approved a $4,800 estimate for that filter and related taps so the cleaning can proceed without shutting down the entire system.
