Developers to study multiple intersections after residents cite crash and access concerns

At the meeting developers said the project team and Harford County coordinated a traffic scoping session that identified specific intersections to be evaluated in the required traffic analysis. Daniel Spiker listed the locations the team will include: Brass Mill Road at the site entrance/Perkins Place, Perkins Place at Gilmer Way, MD‑543 at Gilmer Way, MD‑7 at Brass Mill, MD‑543 at Route 7, MD‑543 at Brass Mill and Church Creek, and US‑40 at MD‑543. "The following intersections will be analyzed..." he said while reading the study area list.

Neighbors described real‑world congestion and safety problems at nearby junctions. Jennie Shaffer told the presenters she often cannot make a left at the local signal because there is no left‑turn arrow and cars queue; she said that in the morning the grade and sightlines make turning hazardous. Spiker told the room the traffic study is under way and "they will absolutely be analyzing this intersection and that intersection" as part of DAC review. The final traffic report will be submitted to Harford County for departmental review ahead of any DAC meeting.
