Council holds first readings on firearm-related code changes to align town code with state law

The Huachuca City Council held first readings on a series of ordinance amendments intended to align town code with state law (A.R.S. 13-3108). Ordinance 2026-01 would repeal a fee charged for criminal background checks before transfer of a firearm (Title 2). Ordinance 2026-02 would amend exceptions for minors possessing firearms (Title 9), and Ordinance 2026-03 would remove the local prohibition on firearms-related home-based businesses (Title 18).
