Board authorizes RG Architects engagement for two gatehouse redesigns; $62,500 design expense discussed

Eric Long presented a fee proposal from RG Architects, P.A. to redesign two gatehouses and associated neighborhood monuments. Long said RG previously designed the River Club and related complexes and emphasized 3-D renderings and visual aids; the group discussed zoning, elevations and the need for a new elevation certificate. Staff noted design and permitting could take 12–18 months and suggested booking the $62,500 up-front expenditure as a reimbursable, to be invoiced when financing is issued and construction begins (anticipated in 2026).

District Engineer Charlie Krebs said he would confirm availability of original construction drawings and suggested a Subconsultant Agreement under Bowman with typical markups; counsel recommended Chair execute documents after review by District Counsel and the District Manager. On motion by Kurt Blumenthal and seconded by Terry Mountford, with all in favor, the Board authorized Bowman to retain RG Architects as a subconsultant and authorized the Chair to execute documents as appropriate after review.
