Steger village administrator outlines transition plan and new procurement policy

Village Administrator Joseph Wiszowaty told trustees he has completed an initial transition phase, distributed a six-month transition plan to the mayor, trustees and department heads, and emphasized organizational priorities including accountability and proactive budget management.

Wiszowaty said staff are developing a Purchase Policy intended to strengthen internal procurement controls and that a comprehensive review of the Employee Policy Manual is underway to ensure compliance with federal and state law. “Our focus will be on moving forward rather than dwelling on past mistakes or missteps,” he said, framing the work as a forward-looking effort to align operations and strategic goals.

He asked trustees to participate in upcoming budget review sessions; department heads will prepare budgets and then meet with the administrator and trustees before the board’s second meeting in February for final approval.
