Supervisors approve temporary event permit, rooftop cameras and routine fiscal items

At their Aug. 4 meeting, the Jasper County Board of Supervisors approved a temporary property‑use permit for an Aug. 6 event, authorized four rooftop cameras for $21,105.80, accepted the Recorder’s quarterly report, approved two $2,034 reimbursements to local emergency services and signed off on homestead recommendations and minutes.

The Jasper County Board of Supervisors on Aug. 4 voted to authorize a temporary property‑use application allowing Thursday Night Thunder to use the courthouse lawn on Aug. 6, with the board agreeing to reevaluate continued use the following week. "Motion by Talsma, seconded by Cupples to authorize a temporary Jasper County property use application for August 6, 2026, to be used by Thursday Night Thunder and then reevaluate the following week on the continued use of the Courthouse lawn." The motion carried with Supervisors Cupples, Nearmyer and Talsma recorded as voting yea.
