Committee authorizes temporary-staffing contracts after 48‑bid RFP

The Human Services Committee moved and approved a resolution authorizing contracts with Peloton Workforce, Inc. and Salem Group to provide temporary staffing services to Kane County departments.

Staff described a competitive RFP process that produced 48 proposals. "We picked a percentage and then cut off anybody over that," Christine Davis (Human Resources) said, explaining that 14 vendors were eliminated for markup concerns and five could not provide for all of the county’s needs; 34 firms were evaluated and Peloton and Salem were selected based on prior experience and cost.

Committee members asked how the two firms differ and how departments select vendors. Davis explained that both firms are providers that can fill department needs and that the county keeps at least two vendors so departments and elected officials may choose the firm they prefer; departments are billed and pay from their budgets.
