Amy Ducharme, identified in the meeting as the WIC director, gave an overview of the program's purpose and materials for providers and families, noting the program has evolved since its 1974 start. "WIC is a federal, so USDA nutrition program for pregnant women, new moms, and families with children younger than 5," she said while introducing handouts and a provider packet.
