Board approves on‑call architectural and engineering vendor list for county projects

The Sedgwick County Board of Bids and Contracts voted to accept proposals and place five architectural and engineering firms on an on‑call contract list for various county departments. Tammy Culley, presenting the item, said the committee unanimously recommended accepting the top five submissions so departments would have more vendor options; the proposed contracts run three years with two 1‑year renewal options.

Sandy Angelo of Project Services said the on‑call list is intended to handle CIP work and other requests that come through Project Services; she explained departments often contact Project Services and staff select firms based on qualifications, schedule and prior experience. "So your best bet would maybe be to contact project services, but you don't necessarily have to go out to bid if they're on call," Angelo said. Board members asked how work would be distributed among firms and whether a separate design bid would still be used for specific CIP projects; staff said the on‑call list expands options and that some larger projects may still be put out for a separate design bid.

The motion to accept proposals from Haney and Associates Architects; LK Architecture Incorporated; Schaeffer Architecture Incorporated doing business as Schaeffer Architecture; Spangenberg Phillips Tice LLC doing business as Spangenberg Phillips Tice Architecture and SPT Architecture; and Antesserie Incorporated (as recorded) for the three‑year period with renewal options passed by recorded vote.
