County, Arboretum and Forest Service finalize reimbursement MOU for Woody Mountain Road work

The board approved a memorandum of understanding allowing federal challenge-cost-share funds to reimburse county work on the first two miles of Woody Mountain Road, a move arboretum leaders said has improved access, memberships and emergency response.

Public Works Deputy Chad Acker described a memorandum of understanding that will allow the Arboretum at Flagstaff to transfer a Forest Service challenge-cost-share award to the county to reimburse maintenance and resurfacing work on Woody Mountain Road (Forest Service Road 231). The county has assumed maintenance of the first six miles and staff said using a nearby pit for crushed material and federal funds has saved hauling costs.
