The commission unanimously approved a sign-theme amendment allowing four signs at the Hill Center Theater / Mountain America arts site (9886 South Monroe Street); the applicant clarified that an eyebrow sign will be illuminated routed acrylic rather than vinyl.

The Sandy Planning Commission approved a sign-theme amendment for the Hale Center Theater and the Mountain America Arts and Education building at 9886 South Monroe Street. Staff presented the application and the commission heard from applicant Austin Cope of Allied Electric Sign and Awning, who described four proposed signs including an eyebrow sign on the east elevation, a marquee with a small EMC element, directional blade signs and an entry sign for a rehearsal hall. "I wanted to clarify that it is a routed and backed, with acrylic... the lettering does light up," Cope said, noting the east elevation sign is illuminated rather than vinyl.
