Ross Township board approves variance for Murphy to build RV-storage pole building on Brookview Lane

At its June 10 meeting the Ross Township Zoning Hearing Board granted Michael Murphy permission to construct a metal pole building on a vacant lot on Brookview Lane (Parcel ID 281-S-320) to store an RV. The board recorded the motion to approve ZHB-11-26 as carried 4 to 0 after Murphy described the proposal and answered questions about site use.

Murphy told the board the structure will have no plumbing, will not be used as living quarters and will not have a concrete floor; he said he purchased the lot about ten years ago. The application requested three variances: relief to allow an accessory structure without a principal building (Section 27-202), a 10-foot variance from the front-yard setback requirement (Section 27-908), and a 2-foot height variance (Section 27-906.6.E.(1)(a)). Murphy also reported he received notice from PennDOT that it may need access to his property to drill; the board advised Murphy to contact PennDOT directly. No members of the public spoke for or against the request. The board’s approval authorizes the proposed building subject to any standard permitting steps required by township regulations.
