Committee to fold community feedback into pilot recommendations and require public reporting

The ad hoc committee on pilot programs agreed to fold public comments from two recent engagement sessions into its final set of reform recommendations and to make pilot performance data more accessible.

"It just seems to me that we we shouldn't just have this good information and sit on it," the Chair said, urging the group to use the public feedback to both improve power-reform proposals and educate the community. Natalie McKinney, who identified herself during the meeting, commended the committee's engagement work and urged that the community remain an "integral part" of the process.

Committee members discussed adding quarterly or semiannual performance updates from pilot projects and posting those updates publicly; Janice Banks said the current ad hoc meeting minutes are not on the county site and recommended putting them on the commission dashboard. Members also recommended taking short, targeted "small-bite" presentations into existing community gatherings — such as church meetings — to reach residents who might not attend a standalone session.

The committee directed members to review the public-comment summaries and the revised recommendations as homework before a dedicated drafting session in November so the final recommendation package can explicitly reflect community input.
