Supervisor Sean Mahoney informed the board that, effective Jan. 1, 2026, a state-enacted building code change will mean "one will no longer be able to get a building permit for new construction (under 50,000 sq. ft.) for any propane or fuel oil (all fossil fuels) making the primary source for cooking, water and heat must be electric." He said the board should consider home‑rule options and weigh the financial burden such a shift could place on homeowners.
