Public Works reports maintenance needs; Tree Committee seeks arborist input and surplus items planned for auction

Public Works Supervisor James (Jim) Stark presented a detailed January operations report covering hydrant repair at 207 North Street, thawing sampler spigots, maintenance of trucks and salt-spreading equipment, and organization of Public Works plans and blueprints.

Stark said the red F350 and the water truck will need new tires in coming months and that he was pursuing recertification options for the boom truck. The Department compiled a list of surplus items proposed for auction; President Block noted an ordinance is required to dispose of surplus via bidding sites and asked for VIN or serial numbers on items for the Board's review.

On a separate committee update, Trustee Benes said Melinda Quigley recommended an arborist opinion or removal for trees on 4th Street whose roots had intruded into sidewalks; one homeowner wants to save the wood and was told by Stark they "have to take it down and pay for it themselves." Trustees also discussed a recommended price of $10.00 per 1,000 gallons to be billed to companies that purchase bulk water for tanker trucks.
