Trustees defer alley-program design, call for wider resident input

The Committee of the Whole agreed that while the referendum’s funding would largely target roadway projects, the board has not yet defined an alley paving program and will solicit broader resident input before adopting any specific structure.

Tim told the board staff and consultants could outline options but that "we don't know what the alley program is gonna consist of yet" and recommended the village commit to follow-up public workshops if the referendum passes so residents can help define cost shares and program design. Trustees said existing alley-program submissions have been low — "only 2 submissions to the current program" — and that could indicate either low demand or a program that is not meeting resident needs. Several trustees urged a special meeting or Committee-of-the-Whole agenda item dedicated to collecting public input and analysis before any funding is allocated to alleys.

The board did not set a deadline for completing those workshops; instead trustees directed staff to plan broader outreach and return recommendations to the board for a future decision. No resident comments on the alley program were made during the meeting.
