Commission hears county courthouse relocation update; downtown reuse possibilities raised

Staff reported that county commissioners voted to proceed with a new judicial center on Campus Boulevard and presented renderings of the proposed facility. One staff speaker said they "did present a very nice render with what they'd like to see happen with the prosecutor's office," and commissioners discussed whether the government center would be vacated and how downtown businesses could be affected. Several commissioners urged county leaders to consider consolidating satellite offices into the current courthouse or government center to return tax-exempt properties to the tax rolls and to support downtown commerce.
