The City of Merrill Common Council voted to approve a temporary Class B beer license for VFW Post 1638 to serve alcohol during a dirt‑track event at the Merrill Fairgrounds on Aug. 29 from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m. The item was introduced by the clerk as part of the general agenda and the mayor noted the event was being brought forward by the mayor’s office.
"Discuss and consider a temporary Class B beer license for VFW post 1638 on August 29 from 9AM until 11PM at the Merrill Fairgrounds in conjunction with a North Wisconsin dirt track racing event," the clerk said. A council member moved to approve the temporary license and another member seconded the motion. After calling for discussion, the presiding officer said, "Any discussion? Hearing none, all those in favor signify by saying aye." The motion carried by voice vote.
