Fremont County dissolves long-dormant Fire District Joint Powers Board
After reporting on the Wazer Knoll wildfire, commissioners approved Resolution 2026-22 to dissolve the Fremont County Fire District Joint Powers Board and assigned the board of county commissioners as trustee to wind up filings and reporting.

County staff reported on the Wazer Knoll Fire and then asked the commissioners to approve a resolution dissolving an old joint powers board that had managed firefighter training and once owned a fire academy facility. The board unanimously approved resolution 2026-22 to dissolve the Fremont County Fire District Joint Powers Board and to appoint the Board of County Commissioners as trustee solely to complete dissolution and required reporting.
